ANDRAS FOLDVARI

biography

Andras was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1952. In this same city, he completed his education, whilst his Mother, who was a teacher, encouraged him to devote his time to learning a new language. This resulted in him beginning to speak German at the age of 6, and was followed by learning the languages of Russian, English, Polish, Swedish, Flemish and French in a short amount of time. This glimpse into his childhood gives insight into how intently Andras was attracted to learning and discovering new things.

Firstly travelling to Eastern Europe, Andras got married to Agnes Farkas and had two children. In this time, he had plans of seeing the architectural wonders of the world. This was the moment when travelling became routine for him. In addition, the process of airport collecting began, resulting in a journey of 500 airports and more than 150 countries all over the world.

Andras has also gotten into the practice of taking pictures of licence plates which represent the different countries he has visited. From Greenland to Afghanistan and Bhutan to San Marino, he has gained a large number to his collection.

Being very fond of travelling by train from country to country, Andras ended up almost travelling the entire Asian continent longitudinally with Trance Siberia Express and Trance Mongolia Express.

Although Andras is passing through the years, his passion for discovery has not diminished and he continues to plan upcoming journeys.

This palace has a deep-rooted history and is one of the most important monuments of the city. Built in 1255, a large amount of damage was done in 1686 and was renovated in the same period. The Magyar National Gallery and Budapest Historical Museum are located inside. This monument is located in the Buda side of the city and once over the hill, there lies a gorgeous view of Budapest.
